Volunteer Opportunities

The South County Historical Society is a not-for-profit volunteer organization.

Dozens of local residents donate time and resources to help the Society accomplish its mission. They help at special events, provide tours of the museums, work as gardeners and carpenters, or in the office, cataloging artifacts and collections, scanning in old photographs and doing everything else all that is needed to keep us running.

Jan Scott, Ross Kongable and Gus Berger spend the afternoon
cataloging Victorian Shoes.

The Society always welcomes new members with an interest in local history,
who would like to share their special skills and a little of their free time. We need volunteers on weekdays and on weekends, so any schedule will work!

The following are some of the areas in which we need volunteer assistance:

  Fundraising     Operations     Gardening
  Security     Computer Data Entry   Docent
Newsletter Housekeeping Publicity
Planning   Property Maintenance     Special Events
Website   Artifact Maintenance   Cataloging
Special Events   Christmas Walk Antique Show
Country Western Dance Festival

Some of the locations assistance is needed are at the Paulding History House, the Santa Manuela Schoolhouse, the Heritage House Museum, the IOOF Hall and the Barn.

Early newspapers used for research are handled
with protective gloves.

If you are interested in participating as a regular volunteer or as a special events helper, give us a call at 805.473-5077 or email us at: SCHS Mail.
